BARNEY is a male shepherd mix, possibly German shepherd, perhaps with some Schnauzer mixed in. He's around a year to year-and-a-half old and weighs 40 to 45 lbs. His coat is wire-haired. He had to be darted with a tranquilizer to get him out of traffic and is still pretty shy and skittish. He is getting used to being petted and liking it more though. He doesn't walk very well on a leash yet, but should pick that up in coming days. He needs human contact right now. We can provide a little bit of that at the shelter but not as much as a real family could. UPDATE ON BARNEY, July 11, xxxx: Barney is out of his shyness now and walks pretty well not perfect yet on a leash. He definitely likes attention and being petted now. Hes very good with other dogs; in fact, if we get a new dog thats a little cranky, well walk the dog with Barney because he gets along with everybody. Were posting a few new pictures now to show his sunny disposition a little better. Hes wearing a bandana in the newer pictures. NOTE: Our dogs are now vaccinated for all common illnesses, except rabies, before they are released for adoption. You must be at least 18 to adopt a shelter dog.
