OSO is a mature male Dachshund. We think 6 to 8 years old. He weighs around 12 to 15 lbs. He was surrendered by his owner who is an elderly person and can no longer take care of him. He doesnt have any physical, mental, emotional or behavioral problems as far as we can tell. He is quite energetic on his walks and seems to be in excellent health. He is friendly but not overly affectionate at the present time, but he is warming up to the AC staff and volunteers from one day to the next. Hes a very likable little guy. He should have at least half of his life ahead of him and should be pretty maintenance free for most of that time. He would make a great companion for watching TV or reading in the evenings. He also has plenty of energy for playing fetch or going for walks. He should fit well into just about any home with any size family. He is available for adoption now. UPDATE ON OSO 7-17-xxxx: Oso has been at the shelter for about 3 and a half weeks now. It is a puzzle to all of us that he hasnt been adopted yet. He has become a very affectionate little dog in the time he has been here. He loves to be held and petted. Hes an excellent walker on the leash and has been walked with a variety of other dogs, male and female. He gets along well with all of them. His age is probably closer to 8 years than 6 and he may not be a full-blood dachshund. He is probably at least three fourths dachshund if not full blood. He has become a shelter favorite with the AC staff and volunteers, but wed love to see him find his forever home. NOTE ON OSO 7-18-xxxx: Oso has been pulled from the shelter by a kind soul who got tired of seeing his name on the euthanization list. OSO IS IN FOSTER CARE NOW BUT IS STILL AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION.
